"Box Office Battle" is The Fly's weekly roundup of what movies topped the weekend's box office.
Legendary and AT&T (T) subsidiary Warner Bros.' "Godzilla vs. Kong" grossed an estimated $48.5M in its first five days, including $32.2M for the three-day Easter weekend, making this the biggest showing since the COVID-19 crisis commenced. The movie also finished the weekend with a foreign tally of $236.9M for a global total of $285.4M. "Godzilla vs. Kong" also launched on HBO Max but viewership numbers were not made public.
BOX OFFICE RUNNERS-UP: Screen Gems' "Unholy" placed number 2, earning $3.2M in its debut weekend. Behind it was Comcast (CMCSA) subsidiary Universal's "Nobody," which grossed another $3.1M from 2,567 locations. Disney’s (DIS) "Raya and the Last Dragon" placed number 4 with $2.1M. Rounding out the top five, AT&T subsidiary Warner Bros.' "Tom & Jerry" earned an estimate $1.4M.
